Goutam's settlement agreement said to create an HMRC tax risk on contracting back
£200
Ismael took the concern seriously but tested it rather than accepting it. He contacted Croner, the HR support provider, who advised that no issue arises. The contractor agreement carries on unchanged.
Goutam's contractor agreement proceeds without a tax question hanging over it, and without Goutam being exposed to a surprise liability on his settlement.
Every Forever Trust USA board decision needed 7 days' notice
£12,000
Asked Sami for the Forever Trust bylaws and read them. They allow a special committee formed from a majority of members, which Mahmoud and Uzair constitute, to take decisions without notifying or involving Salah. Put ratification of that committee on the agenda for the next board meeting. Mahmoud and Uzair now decide by email.
Decisions that used to wait a minimum of 7 days, usually longer while Salah's and Uzair's availability was agreed, now happen by email between Mahmoud and Uzair. Momentum on US DAF work no longer stalls on scheduling.
Evergive and Shamaazi classed as a "professional fundraiser"
£324,000
Ismael rejected the classification outright and held the line through lengthy discussions, arguing that Evergive and Shamaazi act as a tech enabler rather than a professional fundraiser. He brought both his own lawyers and the Forever Trust's lawyers round to that position, which closed the matter without proceedings.
The professional fundraiser classification would have imposed a set of obligations on Evergive and Shamaazi, blocked a large amount of work, and pointed towards court proceedings estimated at 12 months. Ismael closed it off before any of that landed.
